By the time you read this, we will be on the plane beginning our Beautiful Creatures Southern Tour. We are so excited to meet our readers at some of their favorite bookstores – and ours – in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi & Tennessee!
In honor of the tour, we have a surprise for you. We developed a virtual scavenger hunt for BC, with our friend Gabriel Paul. Gabriel loves books and loves to create ways for readers to find amazing books through social media like Twitter. But this time, he wants to help you find something else…
The charms from Lena’s necklace! We’re finally giving one away.
The winner of the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES SCAVENGER HUNT will win a charm necklace like Lena’s, made by us. It’s not something you can buy in a store…
How to Play the Game:
You’re going to be searching the internet for specific things that relate to Lena’s charms in BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. Each clue will lead you to several websites, and eventually you will end up at a web page that represents a person, place, or item that makes each of Lena’s charms meaningful.
When you find the website, you need to save the URL. After you have collected all of the URLs, paste them into an e-mail and send it to kamiandmargie@aol.com. Do not send the URLs one at a time. The first person to find all of the correct URLs and e-mail them, will win a beautiful charm necklace like Lena’s.
The clues will become more difficult as the hunt progresses. We will provide extra clues and info on Twitter and other websites along the way. It will be useful to talk to others and compare notes, but remember — this is a competition. Only one person can win the prize.
How to Get the Clues:
At each bookstore event, we will give a clue to find one charm. We also will tape a vlog for those of you who can’t make it to the events, and we’ll post it here on our blog the evening after the event or early the next morning depending on our flight schedule. We will tweet it each time we post a new vlog. Obviously, if you attend the event you will get the clues early!
Except for the final clue. In order to give everyone a fair chance, the final clue will be delivered via vlog only after our last event!

Kami Garcia is a teacher and reading specialist with an MA in education, and leads book groups for children and teenagers. Margaret Stohl has an MA in English and studied creative writing under poet George MacBeth at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. They both live in Los Angeles, California, with their families. Beautiful Creatures is their debut novel.

I speak very badly English ( I am french, I am 14 ) but I shall want to say to you that I love, I love beautiful creatures and I find that Lena’s necklace is great, great beautiful. I shall like having the same. This competition is a very good idea and I go tried of it participated in spite of my difficulties to understand English.
